Get a K.I.C. in the Pants
(BIG Secret! Shhhhhh)
When it comes to search engine optimization its all about CONTENT. Some people have a lot to say about their product and / or services and have created tons of great content. This site, for example, has a great deal of content and I still hve tons more to write about!
Unfortunately, for some sites, there’s not a heckuva lot of content … think bookkeeper. There’s an intro page, a page about their skills and degrees and specializations, a contact page and possibly an appointment / call back form. That’s about it, right? Well, yeah, if you don’t want any traffic to your site.
Part of what we do in our optimization process is create KIC Pages – Keyword-Inspired Content Pages. KIC Pages are basically EXTRA pages typically NOT found in your site menu but are available in your SITE MAP.
Each page utlizes our 3X3 strategy thus its content is focused on those particular keywords and phrases. This page looks identical to all you other web pages and once a visitor leaves the page they can only return via the “back” button on their browser. A typical optimization of a small site like our bookkeeper example above has about a dozen KIC Pages. However, the more aggressive you want to be with your optimization strategy the more content will need to be created.
KIC does not fall off trees! As the site owner we’ll be coming to you to help develop the additional content. We also have copywriters on staff who can help with all this additional material.
WHAT”S THE PURPOSE BEHIND KIC PAGES?
Let’s say you’re a real estate agent and you want to focus on “commercial real estate agents” “commercial short sales” and “distressed commercial property” as a group of keywords on a page.
In your typical pages you might find it difficult to incorporate these terms 3 times on the page and still be able to keep the page focused and your visitor’s attention. This is where a KIC Page comes in. This “extra” page can be filled with lengthy prose that can easily incorporate these terms.
With a KIC Page you are fulfilling the search engine’s need for focused, keyword-loaded content, driving people who’ve searched for thos3e terms to your site and, once they’re there, we guide them to take action.
ISN’T THIS A BLACK HAT SEO TACTIC?
Emphatically .. NO. You can check out a complete article on black hat SEO here. But, here’s a quick example of a black hat SEO strategy …
It’s just been announced that Britney Spears is going into rehab again. And I see searches for “britney spears rehab” go through the roof. So, I quickly make a page of content loaded with “britney spears rehab” and upload it to my bookkeeper’s website!
I do this because I am hoping some of those 3 million or so searches a day for “britney spears rehab” will end up at my bookkeeper’s site and some of those will hire the bookkeeper. Voila! I am now a successful black hat SEO specialist.
SO WHAT’S SO BAD ABOUT THAT?
Relevancy, baby, relevancy.
Search engines such as Google caught on to strategies like these pretty quickly and now check for relevancy throughout your site. At the very least Google will block the page; at the worst, Google will blacklist your site and your site will never see the light of day again in ANY search on Google.
In conclusion, Keyword-Inspired Content Pages help drive RELEVANT traffic to your website using relevant content … and this is why you hire a good search engine optimization and marketing specialist … like Transmutation Sciences.
