Off-Page Optimization for Better Ranking on SERPs – Search Engine Optimization Techniques
Search Engine Optimization is not just about modifying or manipulating your on-page content and code to garner better ranking in SERPs. Search Engine Optimization also includes off-page optimization strategies. What we do off the pages of your website also works to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the on-page content. Off-page optimization includes linking strategies and placing keywords/keyphrases within the link’s anchor text.
Here are a few examples of off-page optimization:
Press Releases
I worked in the music industry for a dozen years (and then some) and or PR team was always busy. Their motto was “There’s no excuse for NOT putting out a press release!” If Jon Bon Jovi tripped and skinned his knee on stage there’d be a press release. If you’re in business you need to issue press releases for anything relevant: new product or new product line, a new hire like a sales manager, accounting firm, etc. a new marketing campaign … even a website remodel or hiring an SEO firm
. Of course, the content would be mirrored on your site as well.
Article Distribution
You’re a professional. You know a TON of information, techniques and secrets about your business and your industry … SHARE IT! Write articles, maybe 2 – 4 per month, and add these articles to the various online article distribution centers. Visitors may choose your article and place it – with a link to your site – on their site. Even if they have a higher page rank and their version of the article shows up higher in SERPs … so what? You’ve gotten the exposure, exposed your brand and likely got visitor to your site out of it.
Social Networking (FaceBook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter, etc) and Blogging
You are a professional and I assume you belong to at least one professional organization – the local chamber of commerce, for example. Think of FaceBook and LinkedIn as an online version of a chamber. Create a personal profile AND a business profile for you and your business and start asking your clients, your vendors, and professionals to be your “friends;” then USE the service to let them all know about your business and what’s moving and shaking with your business.
Link Exchanges, Link Campaigns (asking complementary businesses to exchange links)
A healthy linking strategy will lead to greater ranking as the search engine use inbound and outbound linking as part of the overall algorithm. Be careful, though, too much linking or linking with “inappropriate” websites may create more of a deficit than a benefit to your website’s rank.
Directory Listings
There are a ton of FREE online business directories on the net. Search for the ones most appropriate for your business and add your business! Paying a small fee to include your URL,, email address and/or phone number isn’t all that bad either. What you are going for is the link.
There are dozens of other off-page strategies that can be done to help push your site to the top of the search engines and we at Transmutation Sciences can help you make the best use of these strategies and more! Just call us at 971-207-4492 and we’ll set up an appointment.
